Stirling Bridge

The Battle of Stirling Bridge was a battle of the Wars of Scottish Independence, fought on the 11 September 1297. Sir William Wallace and Andrew Moray alongside the Scots defeated the English at this location in Stirling near the River Forth. This Battle alongside the Battle of Bannockburn were key victories in the Scottish Wars of Independence. The current bridge is a later replacement for a wooden bridge slightly upstream where the site of the battle took place.
